Tribal tattoos can have many meanings. They can be a way for someone to express their ethnic heritage or spiritual beliefs. When people talk about tribal tattoos today, they don't necessarily have to come from a tribe. It can be any kind of traditional symbol, such as Chinese characters (which can represent good luck, strength, etc.), Celtic symbols like crosses or something like the ankh, which is the ancient Egyptian symbol for life. Tribal tattoos can mean many different things and people can have all different reasons for getting them.

Tribal tattoos don't have any meaning unless your in a tribe or something. They are very unoriginal and everybody will laugh at you if you get it done. Think about something you really want and it's important to you and have the artist draw something up from your ideas.

Tattoos have different symbolism for different people. Samurai are traditionally proud, honorable warriors. They value their family and honor above all else and consider death in battle to be one of the highest honors one can achieve. They are also strong, and there are many legends of samurai battling different mythological creatures. Each battle has its own meaning.

If I were you, I'd hit Barnes & Noble and do some reading about the history and mythology of samurai before getting a tattoo of one.

People often get them to remind them to be strong, to help them through tough times, or to remind them of tough battles they've already faced in life.
