Is $600.00 too much for an original free-hand, back tattoo?

It will be a cross constructed from tribal art that goes from mid-shoulder blade to the bottom of my back in 2, maybe 3 colors. He wants $600 and he is REALLY good at what he does. Still this seems like alot of money. Anybody got an opinion?

That does seem a little pricey. But hey, if he does good work, why not.
You get what you pay for and to me if you know he’s really good I say it’s a good price. 600 for something you will have for the rest of your life done by someone who’s work you know is good and is that large sounds good I say go for it!!
It depends on the size of the tattoo most places charge about 150 dollars an hour.
I myself would not pay that much for a tatoo but it’s your money man the most i have ever was one hundred dollers it starts at the top of my shoulder and goes all the way down to the bottom of my arm
that doesn’t sound like it is too much if you can afford it, because most tattoo people use computer generated designs and have no skill, it is also tribal art so it is probably going to take a while, if you can afford it and really want this tattoo, then go for it, it is a good investment in body art
look the fact that its original is cool but 600 dollars is way too much sry
Alot of times Tattoo artists will charge more $$ if the tattoo is off the arm. Mine was $100 more b/c it was on the lower back. $600 is not alot for an orignal piece of art. But you are the only one that will have to live with it. If he/she is a good artist and you trust him/her – Go for it!! Good Luck.
my sister got hers for $200 so, i would say, ya!
All depends on who your artist is. My tattoo is only 2.5×3.5 and it cost $450 because of who my artist is(no it’s not Miami ink) and what the tattoo is of(portrait).
If this is really an original piece…$600 is not alot – esp considering the size that you are getting…
Well $600 is alot of money but its not alot of money to pay for a tattoo the size you are describing. I’ve spent more than that on just one of my 1/4 sleeve pieces. You get what you pay for and top artists doing top notch original work are not cheap and I wouldn’t want them to be. Now if you’re talking about getting this piece from a home grown scratcher that’s another story and I really hope you are not.
my tattoo on my back would have been about $1200, but i was the tattoo artist’s favorite customer so he gave me a great deal and only charged me $400….also have tattoos on each shoulder, each costing close to $400 each….depending on what you are getting, where it is and how big it is,$600 is probably a normal asking price

You get what you pay for, and they are expensive. A ballpark figure is around $100-$125/hr, and back pieces take a LOT of time. I’d say you are actually getting a good deal! $600 may sound like a lot, but what else can you buy for $600 that has that significant of a meaning and will be with you FOREVER? Fancy cars? Jewelry? High tech electronics? They will all break, fade, or wear down… tattoos are forever! I say go for it!
